The Western Australian Museum is the State’s premier cultural organisation, housing WA’s scientific and cultural collection. For over 120 years the Western Australian Museum has been making the State’s natural and social heritage accessible and engaging through research, exhibitions and public programs.
Integration of digital components into a multi touch point Museum gallery experience to inject new life into a frequently overlooked gallery.
Inkubator collaborated with the Western Australian Museum Learning and Creativity team to develop a multi touch point experience that seamlessly integrated digital and physical interactive elements. As UX / UI Designer, I collaborated with the production of a digital touch table containing multi media content and an iPad ‘Treasure Hunt’ style game – both designed to provide primary school age students with the opportunity to engage with information about the marine life of the Dampier Archipelago in line with active learning models.
On launch the shift in energy within the gallery was palpable, the Gallery transformed into a vibrant and exciting space as children scrambled to experience everything on offer. Independent evaluation determined that visitor dwell time in the gallery increased by 300% and 74% of visitors reported that their experience had been enhanced by the digital components.
